The First Kiss

The first kiss. What does this signify? Is this the finishing of the first lap of this long, tiring race? Does this identify the two people as being in something more than just a platonic relationship? All the question I know run through my head but my curiosity is does this though travels your mind? Any type of physical connection between two people always result in some type of feeling. Men attempt to keep these emotions hidden, so their testosterone power is in full effect. Women tend to be more open to express these feeling, opening themselves up to the person of their liking. But the first kiss is the breaking down of that first power shell in all men, no matter who you are. The soft lips, red lipstick, the long hug before and after. This is the first love expressed in a sense but lets not get into that four letter word quiet yet. The thoughts of a future, sharing the same bubble of space, the fear of that bubble bursting. We are all are having these flashes, whether you feel that way or not, those feelings reside in your mind even when you have no awareness of the thought.

The first kiss can be looked at like that first time you get on one that new roller coaster. The ride always looks fun. The turns, flips, screams, that butterfly feeling you get when the ride worker tightens your seat belt. That click of the seat beat, is the strapping into that new ride, new feel, new relationship. You hate the turns but your ready to embrace them, you fear the flips but they keep your heart racing, you either want the screaming to come to a stop or continue depending on the climax of the situation(get your mind out the gutter). But when that seat belt is buckled let the riding begin.
After all the expressions of the first impression are evaluated phase two begins. This phase is where the long term feelings are expressed. We're like NBA rookies in the summer league, showcasing all of our talents to our owners watching from the sideline. We must handle this phase with great patience and execution. Because in this game it's all about longevity.

As most small things are when it comes to a relationship, the first kiss is often overlooked. We overlook small important points because our expectations are always high no matter what. But for the more mature people that take their time know that it is the small thing that weigh the most. Like that boulder in every roadrunner episode the light feather always brings the destruction and in the case of these person to person relations, even small imprint is the next step closer to either holy matrimony or complete destruction.

  1. Your topic is beautiful and pretty relevant because I believe you're right - everyone thinks about these things in one way or another. It's a simple situation that you present in a very interesting way and your metaphor really adds to it. By comparing an aspect of a relationship to something outside of romance - like a roller coaster - you can engage a lot more people. Overall I just find your blog really sweet and it's great that you are not overlooking the little things.

  3. I really like the way you use metaphors throughout your writing. I also like that you take such a simple topic, and dig deeper into the feelings that we all experience. It really brings up a topic that most would not think to write about, and puts it into a really meaningful blog!

  4. Austin,

You're a natural metaphor master. It's a great way to take a hard-to-explain situation and make it easy for your audience to understand and connect. Your emphasis on how we've all come to overlook the small, seemingly unimportant moments in our lives really struck a chord with me and I'll be sure to savor those small steps.

  5. The topic of your blog is great! It takes something that is so simple and adds depth to it. Also, I think your use of metaphors is nice because it can help more people relate to your blog and ideas. I love how its often women who open up about topics like this, but you took the initiative to write about.
    Thanks for sharing :)

  7. I think your writing style is really impressive and your metaphors are really outstanding. I liked how you were able to extend that roller coaster metaphor for a while. Also, I think that the points you make about really taking in these seemingly small moments and understanding the importance of them are really interesting.
