For guys I feel it is tougher to capitalize on making the
first impression. I feel this way because we give off the energy, create the
vibe that ultimately sets the tone for the encounter. The task for girls is simpler
from my perspective, they have the luxury of feeding off our energy, good or bad.
In this situation men are the house and women are the buyers. Just like in all
aspects of life it seems that they will always have the final say. But as
important as they are, there are also flaws to these first impressions
depending on the length of time you consider this should be.
In my opinion the first impression is not just one day of
speaking to you in the streets or that one time we went out to dinner. I feel
the first impression is an extended period of time ranging from a month to a
full 365 days. I say this because it takes time to get to know who people are
and getting to see their true colors, not just the sugar coated "first date".
Because anyone can impress someone in a five minute talk or an hour lunch break
but when that realm of consistency is tapped into that is where the real
challenge begins, this is where you start to feel things out and make your long-term
decisions. The longer amount of time you put into knowing a person and growing
with them will most of time result in a better relationship between the two.
That is why it is key for both males and females to give things time and not
jump in the first car that looks and feels the coolest.
It is not hard to find love, you just can't rush the
process. Put a relationship into the perspective of the levels of a high-rise
building. Every floor is a new setting, another chapter to love's unfinished
book. I say unfinished because even when you reach the top floor (marriage),
there is still a lot of work to be put into that next sequel of the series.
Let's title this series "The Life of Love".
First impressions are everything. I think it's very interesting how you stated, "In my opinion the first impression is not just one day of speaking to you in the streets or that one time we went out to dinner". I never really thought about it that way, but I guess you're right it does take time to get to know people, and what they are really about. This is a very interesting blog, I excited for the next post!

ReplyDeleteThis quote in particular stood out to me as really insightful. This is a capturing first post beginning a promising series!

I, too, never thought of the "first impression" like that. It's kind of funny to think of married couples still making that first impression on each other after years of being together. I also thought that, maybe, that might be why relationships lose their luster more often than not, because people forget how important it is to make an effort to impress one another. Question: is your blog going to follow, in general terms, the natural crescendo of relationships? (I.e. first impression, infatutation, love, etc...) That'd be interesting.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I just read it back, and I really hope my question doesn't come across as creepy
It was really interesting how your first blog post is about first impressions, and how this post is pretty much a first impression of your blog. I was also wondering the same thing as Rebecca; if you are going to talk about each step of relationships or even friendships. I think that would be a really cool way to approach your blog, and fun for the audience to follow.
ReplyDeleteI commend you on your first post. You have a really great way of writing and making it feel personal to the reader.you made some really good points in the post such as, taking time to get to know someone. In high school and so far in the short span of time in college, it seems like everyone is jumping into relationships so fast that just wind up ending in a couple of months. You have a very realistic way of looking at relationships and i cant wait to read your next post.
